Heureusement que je n'ai pas utilisé mon ancien passeport pour l'ESTA, parce que quand on le renouvelle, le n° change, même si j'ai donné le n° de l'ancien (je n'étais pas sûre qu'il changerait) ; l'ESTA aurait été associée à l'ancien n°, et puisque la date de fin de validité approchait, ça aurait été une mauvaise opération : au lieu de 2 ans, l'ESTA aurait duré jusqu'à la fin de validité de mon ancien passeport, soit quelques semaines.

I'm happy i didn't use my old passport cause when you renew it, the number changes, even though i provided the old one's number (i wasn't sure it would change) ; the ESTA would have been associated with the old number, and since the end of validity was soon, it would have been a bad move : instead of 2 years, the ESTA would have lasted until the end of validity of my old passport, i.e. a few weeks.

So, if your passport reaches the end of validity point within 2 years, and you're going to the US, if you intend to go back there several times, maybe you should renew your passport before you go ?
